2011

 

2011 was the year Mona, Charlie and myself went to Hawaii! Charlie was only 1.5 years old and he flew for free so we seized the opportunity. During our stay on the Honolulu shore a massive earthquake hit Japan as I'm sure everyone remembers. Subsequently our hotel was directly in the path of an upcoming tsunami slated to hit the beach right outside our hotel at 2:40 am. After seeing the destruction that the Japan tsunami had inflicted on Japan, Hawaiians expected a similar result to their tiny islands. Mona, Charlie and myself had to evacuated from our 5th floor room up to the cold hallway on floor 15 and wait out the countdown to when the tsunami hit. Thank God the ocean level only rose about 8-10 feet, which in turn only crested over the beach walkway. It was a scary time but everything turned out all right.

There is a paint can at the base of one of the palm trees. This signifies that year we painted the entire inside of the house which seemed to last forever, as painting always does.

On top of the other palm tree is another angel, which signified another little miracle not quite ready to join our growing family
